The Alta Court – Denver

In 1905, the Altamaha Apartments were constructed at East Colfax and   Lafayette streets.  When purchased for renovation in 1982, the building had fallen into disrepair, with the removal of the cornice work and balconies.

Congleton Architect was commissioned to design the adaptive reuse of the building as offices.  Congleton Invented narrow areaways within the building as interior courtyards, with multilevel circulation threading through the buildings for access to the spaces.  All levels of the building were made fully accessible.  Using historic photographs, Congleton designed a complete façade restoration.  The building is a Denver  Landmark.
